The Road Not Taken

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

    I love this poem. His collection is the only book of poems I’ve purchased to date.

    The only collection of poetry that I’ve purchased (other than the unabridged William Shakespeare) were by Niki Giovanni (for my wife during happier times), and a collection by Pablo Neruda as a gift to the woman that I mentioned at the beginning of my post “Three Steps Forward – Not Looking Back”.

    I’ve loved poetry, writing lyrics and music… in fact, the arts in general since I was a little kid!

    Every once and a while you should treat your self!

    Found your blog through Dark Faerie and have already found many wonderful posts. Robert Frost is one of my favorites and this poem shadows my life inspiring me to go further, look deeper and walk a different path. Enduring art….

      as i’m sure you’ll find out (if you haven’t all ready)
      my “response reflex” is a bit out of sync.
      while for various reasons (and various demons),
      it may at times take me some time to reply,
      all responses, the good and not so much, are very appreciated.
